Years ago I used to think that doing this was a stupid thing to do. But not anymore. It’s a REALLY good exercise to incorporate into your practice.

It helps you get to know a song really well. It teaches you how to play fluid lines and how to instinctively learn how to avoid any snags when you’re soloing in real time. And you’ll learn how to weave in out out of chord changes so much better on any song you do this on.

It turns out that it’s not so stupid after all!
